Parking in Lewes is generally easier than in Rehoboth Beach, but it still has its quirks. Here's what you need to know:

 

Metered Parking (May 1st to October 31st):

Downtown: Most on-street parking and some lots in the downtown area are metered from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Rates: $1.50 per hour.
Time Limits: Vary from 15 minutes to 3 hours. Always check the meter and nearby signage.
Payment: Pay with coins or use the Parkmobile app.
Handicap Parking: Handicap spaces are also metered.

 

Free Parking:

Off-Season: Metered parking is not enforced from November 1st to April 30th.
Municipal Lots:

• Lot off of Schley Ave. (Franklin Ave. & Schley Ave.)
• Lot at Roosevelt Inlet (end of Cedar St. at the Inlet)
• Otis Smith Park Parking Lot (all day parking)

Other Free Options:

• Beebe lot off Market St. and 4th St. (evenings and weekends only)
• Little League lot (July through March - all day)
• Trail Head at Lewes Library

 

Beach Parking:

Lewes Beach: Parking is available at the end of Savannah Road. It can fill up quickly during peak season.
Cape Henlopen State Park: Offers parking for a fee (check their website for current rates). This is a good option for accessing Lewes Beach, especially when the main lot is full.

 

Tips for Parking in Lewes:

Read the Signs: Pay close attention to posted regulations, time limits, and permit requirements.
