Blades
Located along the banks of the Nanticoke River, and in proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, and the Chesapeake Bay, Blades affords its residents many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, the beaches, golf, and sporting events. The town dates back to the 1700’s and was one of the last of Sussex County's unincorporated areas to incorporate. In the mid-1800’s, Blades was named “Bladesville” when one of the early railroad pioneers, James Blades, bought the land the town sits on. Bladesville became a residential community that attracted artisans who worked in neighboring Seaford.
